Job Title: Senior Oracle DBA

Job Description:

  • Database Design and Implementation: Provide expert-level database analysis, design and implementation for the Customer Care and Billing DB2 to Oracle database replatforming project. Implement databases that meet department standards and perform according to agreed upon response time and availability for the application. Implement database security and Sarbanes/Oxley requirements.
  • Development Support: Provide development support for the Oracle database systems. Perform performance monitoring and tuning on all installed databases. Adhere to company standards and procedures, maintain change control documents and follow problems through to resolution. Work with application development team to prepare for database maintenance or upgrade. Perform Oracle software installations or upgrades.
  • Management: Demonstrate a calm, rational and organized approach to tasks when under pressure. Manage and prioritize work, balancing multiple assignments. Manage own time effectively to respond to a user request and provide users with agreed to levels of service. Use written and oral communications to obtain a clear understanding of the work to be performed and the expected outcome or result. Complete assignments in a timely manner with a high degree of quality as defined by the clients. Communicate project status both formally and informally to supervisors, project sponsors, peers and clients. Identify areas in database administration to improve or gain efficiencies.
  • Training and Development: Increase knowledge in related areas of technical specialization. Increase professional knowledge and awareness by reading and participating in technical activities. Provide mentoring to other team members on technical and operational procedures for Oracle database administration.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe work environment at all times and be proactive in identifying and resolving safety-related issues. Know and commit to the Company's safety pledge.

Essential/Required:

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Senior Oracle DBA. Experience and proficient with Oracle Grid Control, RMAN, ASM, and Data Guard. Proficient with recent Oracle database versions and features (10g)
  • Expert knowledge of relational database design
  • Experience with Perl, Unix shell scripting
  • Experience with Unix, AIX. Thorough understanding of storage technologies such as SAN
  • Experience supporting operational 24 X 7 production databases

Marginal/Desired:

  • Oracle Streams / Change Data Capture
  • Oracle RDBMS certification - OCP

Duration/End Date: 1 year

Work Location: San Francisco, CA

Pay Rate: Post as open, but will be in the general range of $65 - $85 per hour
